Steve has worked as a professional freelance musician for 25 years performing numerous styles of music including pop, soul, blues, jazz, African, country and prog. He has performed at thousands of venues in the UK and also toured abroad including Italy, France, Germany, Holland and Ireland, including gigs at Glastonbury, Womad, and other international festivals, and Notting Hill Carnival on a number of occasions. Steve has worked on local and national television, radio, recording sessions, theatre shows including The Warp (Roundhouse, London), Blues In the Night (Queens Theatre, Hornchurch) as well as working with international artists such as William Bell, Womack and Womack, Daniel O'Donnell, Zoot Money, The Foundations and Thunderclap Newman. Steve has also run his own band, Rhythm Rising.

Steve has published two drum tutorial books, The Really Easy Way To Play The Drums, and The Easy Way To Advance Your Drumming and is a Lecturer in Music Practise at West Herts College as well as working as a personal Drumming Coach and workshop leader.

Throughout his performing career, Steve has continued to study extensively including courses at the Guildhall School of Music, Rock School,and studies in percussion instruments, congas, bongos, timbales and Latin hand-held percussion. Steve has also studied and performed with jazz saxophonist John Williams and Brazilian percussionist Pato Fuentes and performed with the London School of Samba.
